How should I prepare for WindyCityGo?

Your preparation depends on your goals for the conference. WindyCityGo is not intended for a "Mobile 101" audience. You'll get more out of the conference if you do a little bit of up-front prep depending on your role. You don't have to read the entire HIG, but you should at least appreciate its value.

If you're an entrepreneur or investor, prepare yourself to meet a passionate group of mobile designers & developers. WindyCityGo will be full of highly talented people who can help you build a great team.

If you're a developer or designer, your preparation depends on your platform(s) of choice:

If you would like to suggest additional resources, you're welcome to do so through the contact form.

What equipment should I bring?

Laptops and mobile devices are welcome and encouraged, but they aren't required.

Will Wi-Fi be available?

Limited Wi-Fi will be available. Note: Please be considerate of your fellow attendees! Don’t download the 4GB Xcode file at the conference. Try to limit Wi-Fi usage to email, Twitter, web browsing, and (of course) GitHub!

Will there be parking?

Parking is available.

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are not refundable, but they are transferrable. If you're unable to attend WindyCityGo and would like to transfer your ticket to someone else, please contact us with the name and email address of the person you'd like the ticket transfered to.

Are discounts available for students, educators, or other groups?

Our best discounts are tied to early registration. That's how we reward people who help us pay venue deposits early. Even if we offer a coupon code, the pre-launch and early bird registrants still get the deeper discounts.

Why is it called "WindyCityGo"?

Because mobile apps are used on-the-go!

Conference Background

Who is ChicagoRuby?

ChicagoRuby is a group of Ruby on Rails enthusiasts. Join ChicagoRuby on Meetup.com for information on upcoming events.

In addition to WindyCityGo, ChicagoRuby will host two more conferences in 2012:

  • WindyCityDB. June 14-15, 2012. Focus on databases, especially the NoSQL variety where "No" means "not only". SQL is proven, but some data challenges require a different approach.
  • WindyCityRails. September 6-7, 2012. A gathering for all who are passionate about Ruby on Rails. Sharpen your technical skills, network with other professionals, and meet some of the top minds in the Ruby on Rails community.

When smart people challenge each other to grow, great things happen. That’s what’s exciting about ChicagoRuby!
